Embattled Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has been ousted as IPOB Leader Worldwide, a memo has shown
PamPamnews reports that the detained leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has reportedly been removed as the Director of the organization.
The frontline advocate for an independent Biafra republic has now been replaced with the IPOB United Kingdom (UK) National Financial Secretary, Sofia Chinyere Kalu
The development was announced by Ezeji Chukwuma, the manager of IPOB and Radio Biafra Community Interest Companies (CIC) Registry in London, the United Kingdom (UK).
The replacement of Nnamdi Kanu with Sofia Chinyere as the new Director of IPOB worldwide to is coming amid Kanu perennial legal battle with the Nigerian government over his extradition and detention.
Pampamnews Nigeria reports that the development in the IPOB was confirmed by Simon Ekpa, a Finnish politician and Biafra agitator in a post on the micro-blogging site, Twitter
Ekpa, who had in the past asserted that he was Nnamdi Kanu’s anointed successor, vehemently opposed his removal.
He questioned the rationale behind the move to replace Nnamdi Kanu as IPOB leader worldwide
“Who are those who removed Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from being the leader of Indigenous people of Biafra worldwide?
“In few minutes time the exposition of those behind the removal of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will begin, we will also address Umahi the former Governor of Ebonyi State. 8pm Biafra”, Ekpa tweeted
Meanwhile, findings by Pampamnews show that Sofia Chinyere Kalu, the person who has allegedly taken over from Nnamdi Kanu, is a Human Rights Advocate who is the Zonal Coordinator of IPOB Greater Manchester & Preston Family and National Financial Officer of the secessionist group
Sofia Chinyere Kalu’s father is an Igbo man from Nigeria, while her mother is South African. She is married to an Igbo man.
Questioning Kalu’s emergence in a live broadcast, Ekpa alleged that: “they want to use a woman who knows nothing about the Biafran struggle to destroy Mazi Nnamdi Kanu”.
The Biafra activist said on paper, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who has been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) since June 2021, has been removed as the leader of IPOB. He cited a March 5, 2022 Memo to IPOB UK members by its Directorate of States (DoS), headed by Chika Edoziem
