The Federal Government has declared public holidays to mark the celebration of Christmas and New year.
Pampamnews reports that the declaration was contained in a statement on Wednesday by minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola,
According to the statement made available by Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Shuaib Belgore, Monday 27th, Tuesday 28th December 2021 and Monday, 3rd January 2022, are the days set aside to to mark the 2021 Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year Day celebrations.
The Minister, who celebrated with Christians and all Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, enjoined citizens to imbibe the teachings of Jesus on humility and imitate his way of life.

Aregbesola also underscored the importance of peace and security as driver of economic growth in the country.

“We must emulate the life of Jesus Christ in His practice and teachings on humility, service, compassion, patience, peace and righteousness, that His birth signifies.
“This will be the best way to portray Christ and celebrate his birth,” he noted.
Aregbesola charged Christians and Nigerians to see the yuletide season as the best time to pray to God over the challenges bedevilling the country.
