Bola Tinubu, chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and President Muhammadu Buhari met on Sunday at presidential villa in Abuja.

However, Tinubu, a former Lagos state governor, has spoken about his visit to the president.

Speaking on their closed door meeting, Tinubu said there’s nothing political about his meeting with President Buhari.

Tinubu said he only visited Buhari to welcome him back from his trip to Saudi Arabia where he went for lesser hajj and to also also express his gratitude to Buhari for visiting him in London during his health travails.

“Only to thank the president, first of all, for his visit to my residence in London after the surgery and wishing me well” Tinubu said after the meeting.

He described Buhari as an exceptional leader, who lifted his spirit with his kind gesture and compassionate visit to him when he was down.

“No politics, just a courtesy call to thank him in a big way, that’s all.”

Although Tinubu has not formally declared his ambition for the 2023 presidential election, several campaign initiatives have been launched in his name.

However, there are conjectures that, should Tinubu declare to run for the presidency, he might face stiff competition from vice president, yemi Osinbajo, who happened to be his associate, and also nursing presidential ambition.
